RE: MCLEs are Scams |
| Message: |
Rant Alert: The requirement for continuing education of paralegals is ridiculous. As a freelancer, I have pay some online service $20-40 per hour so I can read an article (which has hyperlinks to statutes) answer some T/F or one word answers and then they email me that I passed, I type it on some stupid form and send it to one of my attorneys so I can say my "supervising" attorney has it. Voila, now I am qualified under the business and professions code which has never come up one time in ten years and only will if the attorney I bill has to argue in a motion to collect fees. It's a complete rip off and is only for the MCLE providers to make money. My legal education is not made more current by this. Last time I got my general legal credits, offered through OCPA, I sat in a room and watched a long video about in limine motions - the video looked ancient. No test or anything. I could have slept through it and no one would have known or cared. It's pitiful. |
