| Okay, what is up with all the
questions about marital status and whether I have children? I have
NEVER been asked that on any other type of interview, and I have been
asked it on EVERY interview I have had with law firms. A few places
even asked me about my religion and if I go to church. One guy even
told me to my face that he'd be taking a huge risk by hiring me because
I'm in my thirties. A lot of people I graduated with have had the same
experience. WTF? It's been awhile since I took Employment
Discrimination, but is this not a violation of Title VII? Or at least
setting yourself up nicely for an employment discrimination claim? I
know why they want to know this information, but why do they think they
can get away with asking it? |

| That sounds like discrimination, there just suppose to ask about your job history, what you expect with this job and so forth, your personal life should not matter. |

BuzzQueen, I'm assuming all this has occurred in the very recent past. If that's the case, I'm guessing it means the firms are speculating that the economy really is going down the proverbial crapper and they can get away with it because potential employees are becoming desperate for jobs. Did Mr. Huge Risk elaborate on why being in your thirties supposedly made you one? This curious mind would like to know. |
