Do you think taking time off from paralegal work and teaching abroad is a good idea? I feel like I need to explore some other job options before I commit, and my focus has been on family/social work issues. Has anyone else done this?

If you are under 35 and not married with children...go for it!! However, if you are married with children this is not the climate to start job hopping. People are losing jobs and good jobs are getting harder to find. What kind of money can you make doing social work? Where will you be working and for who? The State, if not all states, are looking at major cut backs so think hard and long about your timing!! (i.e. 10 years ago I would have bought a large SUV but today I would never think about buying one)

I think that taking time off to persue other avenues is great. This way you will know what you want to do with the rest of your life and how you want to do it. Why waste time somewhere you son't want to be?
